The ‘Longest’ Pentatonic Scales

This lesson is strictly aimed at building the guitarist’s movement from position to position, and is geared towards building your knowledge in new and higher positions and their locations.

We will work in open and closed positions for this, and slides will be utilized throughout as “connectors.” The three main configurations of these scales will be illustrated, and each one will be in their open and closed incarnations.

Most of all, these will begin to get the player into a more “musical” approach to playing scales in general, and we will explore how this is truly the basis for so many licks, runs and patterns that can be at your disposal. This lesson will definitely help take your playing to a higher place!—Arlen Roth
