John Corabi

JOHN CORABI is a trend-setting guitarist and charismatic teacher who brings to his Gibson Guitar Clinics over 20 years of firsthand experience performing with rock royalty, writing smash hits, and instructing guitarists just like you. In John’s popular guitar clinics, he passes on the lessons he’s picked up from years on the road as the frontman of Mötley Crüe and in bands with the likes of Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick, Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell, and the Cult guitarist Billy Duffy.

John first stepped into the limelight in the late ’80s with Angora, an award-winning band that established him as a regular on the L.A. club circuit. His forward-thinking playing style raised more than a few eyebrows and he soon moved on to form the Scream, which experienced great success when three of their singles racked up regular MTV airplay. John toured for a year behind the album, catching the eye of Mötley Crüe, who were hunting for a frontman to replace Vince Neil. With his deep, compelling voice and a knack for writing hard-hitting rock songs, John was the obvious choice to take the reins, and he got the gig in 1992. He repositioned Mötley Crüe as a new metal band—a move that would pave the path for later bands like Godsmack and System of a Down—and penned much of the band’s self-titled album, their most critically acclaimed to date. When Vince Neil returned to Mötley Crüe in ’97, John and the band agreed to part ways.

Over the past 10 years, John has formed close partnerships with Kiss’ Bruce Kulick, with whom he helmed the band Union, and with Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell and the Cult’s Billy Duffy, both co-members of all-star cover band the Cardboard Vampyres. Today, John is hard at work on a solo album and also regularly writes songs for other artists.

A Gibson Guitar Clinic with John Corabi is an incredible opportunity for you to improve your playing. Corabi knows the guitar—and the rigors and rewards of the music industry—inside and out, and it’s his fusion of technical expertise with real world experience that makes his clinics so rewarding.
